Geological engineering survey

Geological engineering surveys are required in construction to ensure accurate and correct location of buildings and structures. These surveys are performed without regard to the type and dimensions of the facility under construction. Geological engineering surveys identify engineering-geological and hydrogeological conditions of the expected construction area, soil characteristics hazardous geological processes and other possible complications in the process of construction and operation of structures. Survey is performed by studying physical-geologic conditions, geologic structure, hydrogeological conditions, main physical-mechanic soil features, electrical survey, chemical composition of underground waters and corrosive soil activity.

Scope

  • collection and processing of survey materials of prior years;
  • survey of foundation soils of the existing buildings and structures;
  • excavation; dwelling, field soil surveys; geophysical surveys; hydrogeological surveys;
  • laboratory examination of soils and ground waters;
  • processing of the materials; forecasting of changes in the engineering-geological conditions;
  • assessment of hazards and risks from geological and engineering-geological processes;

Survey outputs

  • Technical Report
  • Based on the results of engineering-geologic survey a technical report is issued containing data of physical-geographic conditions of the surveyed area, geologic-lithologic soil description, hydrologic conditions, physical-geologic processes, physical-mechanic soil features, aggressive and corrosive water and soil features, forecasts, conclusions, recommendations.
